Time's 50 Best Inventions of 2008

Time Magazine has released it's list of the 50 best inventions of 2008. At the top of the list is 23andMe's Retail DNA Test. It's a $399 saliva test that estimates your predisposition for more than 90 conditions and traits, anything from blindness to baldness. For example, Google's Sergey Brin found out he has a 20%-80% chance of getting Parkinson's disease.

Other notable inventions making the list are hulu.com, the bionic hand, facebook for spies, and the seven new deadly sins.

A 20-80% chance? That seems like a ridiculously wide margin, but I guess that's what you get for $399 and some saliva. Interesting idea, but I'd expect a set of steak knives too.
